
Gnome Terminal:
Introduction:
gnome-terminal is an application that provides a command line interface (or Terminal window) to interact with Linux Operating System. It is automatically installed when you install gnome package during the installation of Linux. But if due to some reason it is not installed, you can install it by following command:
To install gnome-terminal:
1. Login as a root:
(or run following command to switch to root user, if you are logged in by Non-privileged user)
sudo -i
#### or ####
su -
2a. How to Install gnome-terminal in RedHat/CentOS/Fedora:
yum install gnome-terminal
2b. How to Install gnome-terminal in Ubuntu/Debian:
apt-get install gnome-terminal

To open gnome-terminal:
Click on Applications Menu -->Accessories -->Terminal
Or
Press Alt + F2 --> type gnome-terminal --> click Run
Or
Simply right click on Desktop --> click Open Terminal
Note:
- If Open Terminal is not available in Nautilus (Gnome File Manager) Context Menu (menu that comes after right click), It means nautilus-open-terminal package is not installed.
- If nautilus-open-terminal is installed, you find Open Terminal when you right click on Desktop and you find Open in Terminal when you right click on any directory (folder) and nautilus.
- If you install or remove nautilus-open-terminal package, you need to logout and login again for changes to take effect.
